sign language slang

sign language slang
i luv u 4ever, gurl….. Say whaaaaaat?

I have an especially strong dislike towards internet slang. The shortening of words and sentences I find appalling as it only gives stupid people another vehicle for butchering the English language… which by the way most people don’t grasp very well in the first place. When I instant message people, I like spelling out what I’m saying, IN COMPLETE SENTENCES. When I don’t know a word or how to spell it, I look it up in my big blue dictionary that I keep near my desk. Maybe I am just old fashioned?

What do you think of internet slang and its usage? Greatest thing since sliced bread… or another sign of a looming apocalypse?

Peple are trying to simplify lives so it’s more of a personal choice really. I prefer using words in their original form too and do not like sland of any type, internet or not, but then it’s my choice. I use what I like. I don’t like to interfere with other people’s preference. English has changed drastically since it first originated. May be Shakespeare would have found our English usage appalling and rude. It is communication that matters. Language is just a medium.
